So we decided to change things up a little this year for the NAR convention and secure a yacht just steps away from the convention floor and most of the area hotels. New Upgrades to Obeo HomeSite
We have just launched version 3.7 of Obeo HomeSite with a handful of new updates for all Obeo customers. Here is a quick overview of the free upgrades that have gone live in the last few weeks.
1) Faster Download Time
The Obeo Team has just finished rebuilding the back-end engine that powers Obeo HomeSite. The new version of our core virtual tour viewer is twice as fast as the previous version! All of the sections of Obeo HomeSite have been optimized to load faster, download quicker and give you a better experience while looking at the online listing. Additional speed improvements have been made throughout the Obeo.com website.
2) Full-Screen Theater Mode
Another new feature with this upgrade is the full-screen theater mode! You can now sit back and watch a great presentation of the home, as the photos zoom & fade back and forth. You can now also advance the photos by using the back/next arrows inside the virtual tour. Simply click on the “Theater” button when looking at the virtual tour to see these new upgrades.
3) Optimized for Social Media Linking & SEO
The new version of Obeo HomeSite has been optimized for all your social media linking. When you post your tour to Facebook, Twitter and other social media websites, you will now see a photo and description of the listing on your link/bookmark. These changes will help make your social media links stand out, and also improve your search engine rankings (SEO) on Google. Don’t forget to click the ‘Share’ button in the bottom-left corner of Obeo HomeSite, to quickly post your listings to dozens of social media websites!
4) Updated Floor Plan Display
Many of you may not realize, but Obeo HomeSite has a great feature to display the floor plan of the property. If you have a floor plan file and you would like to display it on the tour, you can go to your Obeo Members Area and upload that floor plan for FREE. When you do this, a new floor plan icon will appear on the main menu and users can view the floor plan of the property.
5) Improved Statistics Tracking
As most of you know, Obeo provides great statistics reports for your listings. These reports are available in your Obeo Members Area and they display detailed information on the daily traffic to your listings. We also have a report that shows you which websites are sending traffic to your tours. This tracking has now been improved, so you will see more websites listed in this area, instead of hits tracking as ‘Direct’. With this information, you will be able to see which websites are sending you the most traffic and where your advertising dollars are best being spent.

Full-Screen Panoramas
As potential buyers are viewing your Obeo listing, they now have the option to view the photos AND panoramas in full-screen. Our HD photography looks amazing when it fills your entire screen and allows anyone to see the crystal clear details of each room in the home.
Free Document Hosting
Obeo now allows you to upload property documents to your Obeo HomeSite, which can be downloaded by anyone viewing the virtual tour. We can host property disclosure documents, tax records, community guidelines or any other file you want to share with potential buyers. These files are uploaded from your members area and can be viewed/downloaded from the tour in the “Tools” section of Obeo HomeSite. Learn More
Audio Plays Throughout the Tour
Obeo allows you to pick from hundreds of audio tracks and play them on the virtual tour at no cost. This background music (as well as any custom audio that could be purchased) will now play throughout the tour, no matter what section the user may be looking at.
Improved Panorama Quality
We have recently upgraded the quality and resolution of our 360-degree panoramas. The images now show more detail in every room and you can zoom into each photo for a closer look. This quality improvement applies to any recently photographed tour and all tours going forward.

Got a camcorder and 72 hrs?
It must be something in the water. Or maybe it’s just the fact they’re working in one of the most competitive real estate markets in North America.
Whatever it is, it seems like Vancouver-based Realtors are really pushing the envelope when it comes to new media marketing (see Video isn’t just about listings).
Kye Grace is one of those Realtors. He recently completed a marathon open house: three days nonstop, embedding himself in a downtown luxury condo he was trying to sell.
But what makes this open house story different was he conducted it entirely online.
Grace live-streamed the entire 72 hours over the Internet on his Web site, 72houropenhouse.com. He used the video-streaming service Ustream.tv to connect with potential buyers through the embedded chat window and fielded questions through other social media tools like Twitter.
It’s just this sort of creative thinking around marketing that’s going to get you and your listings noticed these days.
Certainly, there’s no doubt Grace also benefited himself from the healthy media attention his endeavor attracted — the local television channels and newspaper all picked up his story.
He even turned the idea into a revenue opportunity, offering up sponsorship opportunities to local vendors to come in and talk about their products and services, too.

What does Simon Cowell know about marketing properties online? A lot!
During a 60 Minutes TV interview, Simon Cowell was asked if he created American Idol in order to gain celebrity status. In other words was Simon’s goal to become famous?
Simon answered that he didn’t really care about being a celebrity. He created American Idol simply to sell records for his record company - Sony BMG. By having a singing competition on TV, he would be able to sign great singers before they made it big. This would allow him to lock in guaranteed future stars for less money. He would also have exclusive rights to their songs throughout the entire American Idol process.
Simon’s business plan was so powerful that he has sold over 100,000,000 records in the last 4 or 5 years. Every time an American Idol artist sells a song or record, Simon’s record company makes money. American Idol is now on TV in 30 countries. Each year, he signs the biggest stars in 30 different countries.
What did Simon really do? He did the opposite of what all the other record companies were doing. The majority of the record companies spend their time and resources trying to recruit top selling artists away from their competitors. Not Simon.
He created a new business “in front of” the record business. The new business, American Idol, funnels signed artist after signed artist to his record company. In fact, he doesn’t waste any time trying to recruit artists away from his competition. He isn’t even competing with them anymore. He figured out how to attract future starts to him through American Idol.
Simon has completely re-invented the record business. Over the last few years, Obeo has done exactly the same thing with the home marketing business.
